Which goalkeeper is joining Heidenheim?

Heidenheim has signed goalkeeper Thomas Dähne. The 1.93m tall shot-stopper has put pen to paper on a deal running until summer 2028 at the Brenz. Dähne arrives on a free transfer and brings valuable Bundesliga experience with him.

Why is the move a coup for Heidenheim?

For Heidenheim, the transfer is a smart move. Dähne has already played in the Bundesliga and was most recently with Holstein Kiel. His career also includes spells at RB Salzburg, HJK Helsinki and Wisła Płock. With his experience and presence in goal, he can strengthen the FCH’s young goalkeeper ranks.

How did the move come about?

Dähne was last with 1860 Munich, but the club was forcibly relegated due to financial issues. The goalkeeper had no Regionalliga contract and became unemployed. Heidenheim pounced and secured the free-agent stopper. 1860 Munich legend Vitus Eicher – who himself moved from the Lions to Heidenheim – advised Dähne to make the switch.

What does Dähne say about the move?

„The talks with the club’s management gave me a great feeling from the start,“ Dähne said. „At 1860 Munich I also worked with Vitus Eicher as goalkeeper coach, who convinced me that the FCH is a very special club. I want to help the team on and off the pitch right away.“
