1. FC Heidenheim has scheduled two friendly matches during the international break at the end of September and beginning of October. The 2. Bundesliga club will play a charity match against Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart and host 3. Liga club Würzburger Kickers a week later at their home ground.
Frank Schmidt's team is using the break from competitive fixtures to gain match practice and refine tactics. Currently, FCH sits third in the 2. Bundesliga table with nine points from four matches. Their record shows three wins and one loss, with a goal difference of +1 after scoring 11 and conceding 10.
The first friendly is set for Friday, 25 September. The opponent is Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart. The match will kick off at 16:30 at the Stadion Benzach in Weinstadt. It is a benefit game in support of the Bürgerstiftung Weinstadt foundation. Tickets for this match are available via the online shop of SG Weinstadt.
One week later, on Friday, 2 October, Heidenheim will play a test in front of their home fans. Würzburger Kickers from the 3. Liga will visit the Voith-Arena. Kick-off is scheduled for 13:00. The stadium will open its gates to spectators one hour before the match begins.
Special regulations apply for the home friendly against Würzburger Kickers. Only the South Stand will be open for spectators, with free seat selection. Tickets will be sold exclusively at the day box office of the South Stand. There will be no advance sales in the club's fan and ticket shop on the match day itself. Season ticket holders of 1. FC Heidenheim must note that their season passes are not valid for this friendly match.
The friendlies come at a time when Heidenheim has made a strong start to the season. With recent form reading WWLW, the team trails league leaders Hertha BSC by just three points. Before the friendlies, however, an important league fixture awaits. On 13 September, FCH hosts 16th-placed Holstein Kiel at the Voith-Arena. The team's full schedule can be viewed on our fixtures page.
On the injury front, the club continues to be without Christian Conteh and Sirlord Conteh. The senior squad status is documented on the injuries overview. The friendlies therefore also present an opportunity to test squad depth and explore potential alternatives. Detailed team statistics for the current season are available on our stats page.
The match against Stuttgart represents a particular challenge as the opponent plays in the top flight. For Würzburger Kickers, it's a local derby at a higher level. Both games serve as preparation for the remainder of the season after the international break. The next competitive match after the friendlies is scheduled for 17 October.
