Marvin Pieringer has left 1. FC Heidenheim and officially joined SC Paderborn. The transfer of the striker was confirmed on the afternoon of the report's publication.
Pieringer joined Heidenheim from FC Schalke 04 in the summer of 2023. During three years with FCH, he made 104 competitive appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists. In the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, he was even the team's top scorer with seven goals in 31 matches. Holger Sanwald, the chief executive of 1. FC Heidenheim, acknowledged the attacker's contributions. "Piere played a key role in our two successful Bundesliga survivals over the past three years," Sanwald said.
The move came at Pieringer's own request. His contract in Heidenheim had one more year remaining until summer 2027. The club would have preferred to keep the striker as a key player for the upcoming second division campaign. The current league table shows FCH has started the season well. With six points from three games and a record of two wins and one loss (WLW), the team sits in fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga. They are just three points behind leaders 1. FC Nürnberg. The attack has already scored ten goals but has also conceded ten.
Financially, the transfer was still attractive for Heidenheim. "For us, with only one year remaining on his contract, this will generate significant transfer revenue." explained Sanwald. The exact fee was not disclosed. The move allows Pieringer to continue playing in the Bundesliga while Heidenheim can use the income for squad building.
Marvin Pieringer is no stranger to SC Paderborn. He was already on loan at the club during the 2022/23 season. At that time, he was still under contract with FC Schalke 04. Now he returns as an experienced Bundesliga striker with over 100 top-flight appearances. His time at Heidenheim shaped him significantly and solidified his reputation as a reliable goalscorer. The statistics from his entire FCH tenure are available on our stats page.
